Power-BI Connector

Power BI is a business analytics service from Microsoft. The aim is to provide interactive visualizations and business intelligence functions with such a simple user interface that end users can create their own reports and dashboards.

Installation​

To be able to use the Power-BI Connector, you must first install it on the workstation PC.

Please download the Power-BI Connector from the module page of your TimePunch Application Server.

The following steps explain the installation.

  1. Copy this file into the folder "[Documents]\Power BI Desktop\Custom Connectors". You will probably need to create this folder.
  2. Whenever you open Power BI Desktop, it detects the connector but does not allow it to be used due to security settings.
  3. To work around this, go to the Power BI Desktop options and then to Security. Under Security, select "Load all extensions without scanning or warning". Then restart Power BI Desktop.

Integrating the TimePunch data source

  1. If the installation was completed successfully, you can see that TimePunch is available in the list of connectors. Simply search for "TimePunch".

  2. Select the TimePunch connector you want to query and press Connect.

  3. Now you have to enter the TimePunch Server URL and the additional parameter as desired.

  4. The last step is to enter the TimePunch username and password. Please remember to use your username, not the display name.

  5. After connecting, the data is displayed and can be used in Power-BI.
